Joel Camathias has been engaged by Graham Nash Motorsport to contest the 2005 FIA GT Championship. The versatile Swiss driver will share with Legnago (Italy) based Paolo Ruberti for the duration of the World Series which starts in Monza, April 9-10.
Pleased with the deal, Team Principal Graham Nash commented “The decision to include of Joel in this year’s driver squad is very important to the team’s plans. He is young, its an important career move for him and I believe will adapt well to the Saleen S7, and he has a very good team mate to race with. Overall I am very happy to confirm the season with Joel”.
“With regards to his ability, well I don’t doubt that he is fast and he has a lot of open wheel experience as well as contesting some races in a GT Porsche. He didn’t race much in 2004 but I don’t think that will be a problem. Within a few laps of testing he’ll be up to speed”.
2003 saw the Lugano driver contesting the American Champ car World Series with Dale Coyne Racing. His undoubted speed and experience at such a high level of motor sport will help to pay dividends during the course of the 2005 season with GNM.
About the agreement Joel commented “Of course, I am very satisfied. All the ingredients are there for success. I will share the car with Paolo, a friend of mine and a driver with whom I hold in high regard. Importantly we will have the support of Pirelli and the team is extremely motivated to do well. We know however that a lot of work will have to be done, but we have the grit and determination to do it and succeed”.
