ACEMCO Motorsports qualifies third in GT1 at rain soaked Sebring

ACEMCO Motorsports will start the Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring in third position on the GT1 grid for the race on Saturday. The American Le Mans Series officials canceled practice due to rain, so the field will start according the their average practice times from yesterday.

The team drivers have been putting the number 63 ACEMCO Motorsports Saleen S7-R through a prerace program to fine tune the car for the once around the clock race on Saturday.

Johnny Mowlem was slated to qualify the car today until the rain prevented the session. “It would have been nice to see what we could do. I think we had an opportunity for the pole or to at least split the Corvettes on the grid. With everything considered and the race being a long 12-hours, third will be a good place to start.”

Teammate Terry Borcheller was also disappointed that qualifying was cancelled. “We had a fix for a couple of issues that we had yesterday and I think it could have been the difference for the pole. I am hoping to get in some dry running tonight and finalize the setup of the car tomorrow and be ready to race hard on Saturday.”

Joining the full season duo is road racing veteran Ralf Kelleners. “Third is an alright position to start here. You are not going win the race on the first lap. With the Corvettes in front of us we are going to get an early look at the race pace and this should help us with our race strategy for the day.”
