ACEMCO Motorsports qualifies fourth in GT1

ACEMCO Motorsports qualified fourth in GT1 for three of the American Le Mans Series race to be run at Mid-Ohio today. The team’s testing program since Road Atlanta has paid off as Johnny Mowlem, driving the number 63 Saleen S7-R, will start from the second row in GT1 after posting a qualifying time of 1:19.005 and a speed of 102 mph.

“This is the closest we have been to the Corvettes,” said Johnny Mowlem. “We have worked hard on the car since Road Atlanta and particularly hard in practice today. The changes we have made have been radical, but the car is responding and the time sheet says we are going in the right direction.”

“My qualifying lap was good there is a good grip in the track and the cool weather helps the horsepower. We are comfortable with our qualifying effort, but we will make good use of the warm-up to try a couple more elements and be ready to race tomorrow.”

“We took the opportunity to do some testing since Road Atlanta,” said Jeff Giangrande, team owner. “Having our wing back is a big help and the car is reacting well to each change that we perform on the car. Johnny and Terry are in sync with the way the car is handling and our view of the Corvettes is a little bigger this weekend, so we are looking forward to having a good race tomorrow.”
