American Le Mans Series

Alex Job Takes Portland GT2 Pole

Romain Dumas, driving the number 23 Porsche 911 GT3 RSR, will start from pole position in GT2 for tomorrow’s running of the American Le Mans Series Portland Grand Prix.

Dumas was able to backup his pole run from Portland last year with a time of 1:12.653 and a speed of 97 mph. “I had a good lap. I was on pole here last year and was able to win; I hope we can repeat that performance tomorrow. We are on a roll, with three wins in as many races. Timo and I need to keep winning to make up the points gap to Petersen. We are working well together; the setup on the car is getting easier every race. Timo is very steady and does not make mistakes. We are both focused.”

In the companion car, new teammate Darren Law qualified the number 24 Porsche 911 GT3 RSR in sixth position in GT2 with a time of 1:13.495. “This is the first day I have been in a 911 since Sebring, so I am still getting acclimated with the car. I would like to be a little further up the grid, but the time is only a half-second off, so we will be good for the race. Ian is on pace and we are looking to have a very competitive run tomorrow evening.”

“Romain did a good job, he was able to keep his Portland pole streak intact,” said Alex Job. “We have made some strides with the 24 car and we are working very hard on a setup Darren and Ian are fast with. Darren did a good job jumping into the car and providing quality feedback to get closer to the front. We still have some work to do but, we will get there. Ian has turned some very good laps in practice and his confidence grows every time he gets in the car.”
