The Flying Lizard Motorsports No. 45 and No. 44 Porsche GT3 RSRs qualified 4th and 5th, respectively, in GT2 for tomorrow’s Portland Grand Prix. Although afternoon air temperatures were only in the mid-80’s, teams were challenged with relatively hot track temperatures, which reached 120 degrees by the end of the combined GT1 and GT2 qualifying session.
Jon Fogarty was at the wheel of the No. 45 in qualifying. He commented on the track conditions, “To go fast, you really had to stay calm and go slow. The black asphalt of the track combined with the heat made it extremely slick - you had to stay on the concrete to get any grip at all. But we’ve definitely reached a better setup at this race than at the last few races; we’ll see how things play out tomorrow.”
Lonnie Pechnik, who qualified the No. 44 fifth in GT2, added, “We had some challenges today in getting to the right setup for the No. 44. A tire went down during afternoon practice today and we lost some time there. We’re focused on getting this right for the race tomorrow.”
