J3 Racing Ready for Portland Grand Prix

J3 Racing has traveled up the Pacific Coast Highway to Portland for round six of the American Le Mans Series race to be run at Portland International Raceway on Saturday evening.

Touring car ace Michael Galati will join Justin Jackson behind the wheel of the number 79/J3 Racing/Porsche 911 RSR for this weekend’s race. Galati will be making his ALMS debut as well as the first time he will be driving a Porsche in competition.

“I appreciate the opportunity that Jaye Jackson has provided me to run this weekend,” said Galati. “I was able to drive a lot of laps yesterday in testing, it was a different experience driving the Porshe. The car handles a little different from the front-wheel drive, all-wheel drive and rear-wheel drive cars that I have driven in the past.” This weekend Galati will drive a variety of cars, a Volvo with four-wheel drive in Speed GT, a Mercedes with rear-wheel drive in Touring and the Porsche in the ALMS race.

Justin Jackson spent the day coming to grips with the Portland circuit. “This track does not have a lot of grip. We have been working on the setup and have made a lot of adjustments that we will try today. We need to get the Pirelli tires a little happier through the turns here. The new, wider turn one is a little faster so I hope we won’t get the staking effect there and have a lot less contact between cars.”
