Graham Nash Motorsport (GNM) are looking to contest the 2005 Petit Le Mans and Laguna Seca rounds of the American Le Mans Series. The UK based team is no stranger to racing in the USA having campaigned its pair of Saleen S7-R’s at Road Atlanta, Miami and Sebring in the recent past.
Team Sport Director Andy Woolgar commented “The ALMS series has a great deal of attraction to many European teams but our aim is to continue into ’06 with our Saleen’s taking the fight to the other GT1’s including the Corvette’s, Maserati, Aston Martin’s and ACEMCO Saleen. Development on our cars is on-going and we feel that we are ready to put up a good fight”.
He continued “We may well run both Saleen’s at Petit and Laguna this year. We will retain the services of our lead-driver Paolo Ruberti and have a good deal of interest from US drivers. We are also close to a deal for factory assisted development tyres too.
Team owner Graham Nash added “GNM have good connections and sponsors in the US and Canada plus a base in which to work from to the ’move’ there will be a pretty straightforward transition”.
GNM has so far endured a mixed season in the FIA and LMES series, the highlights being a 6th place in the recent Spa 24 hours and a 100% finishing record for one of its cars.
“The US presents a new initiative for our team” added Nash. We still intend to continue competing in the FIA GT in 2005 and indeed next weekend we will be represented at the next round of the LMES at Nurburgring. We are seriously exploring the US option however and we hope to firm things up shortly”.
