The team has been at the Road Atlanta circuit since last week fine tuning the Saleen S7-R for the series penultimate event. The GT1 class has become even more competitive this weekend with the entries of the two factory prepared Aston Martins.
“My qualifying attempt was ok,” said Borcheller. “I unfortunately encountered traffic on both of my flying laps. I think I had a third place car today, but not really enough for the Vettes. The Michelin tires have been really consistent and the weather was near perfect today. Ralf, Johnny and I together with the team have worked hard all week on having a steady race car over long runs. Ten hours is a long time and we need to be around at the end. The Corvettes will set the pace and we will be looking to keep them in our sights throughout the day and then see what we have when night falls.”
“We have worked hard to have a car that will race well,” said team owner Jeff Giangrande. “Terry came up on some slower cars during qualifying so we are a couple of places back from where we should be starting. The race is long and we are in it for the duration. We have been here since last Friday doing a lot of laps to get a setup under the car that is drivable for 10-hours. We need to be around at 9:00 p.m. tomorrow.”
