ACEMCO Motorsports Ready for Laguna Seca

ACEMCO Motorsports is ready to continue the GT1 battle that raged at Petit Le Mans three weeks ago at the American Le Mans Series finale at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca on Saturday.

The team from Michigan will again go up against the factory efforts from Corvette and Aston Martin at the 2.2-mile, 11-turn track. The battle that ensued at Petit Le Mans captivated the Road Atlanta crowd and TV audience.

“The car should be competitive at Laguna,” said Borcheller. “The number four car may run a conservative race to secure the championship, we can beat the three car and the Astons have never been to Laguna. We will need to tune the car to the track like we have since Mosport. The focus will be turn nine, the Cork Screw and being able to get through the last 90-degree turn smoothly. We usually have a good baseline off the truck and some tweaking for the conditions will get us right there.”

Johnny Mowlem has a soft spot for Laguna Seca, having won his first ALMS race there in 1999. “I really like the track; it is a very flowing layout where it is quite easy to find a fast rhythm. A fast lap of Laguna requires a car that is comfortable in fast turns and transitions well, like our Saleen. We would like to bring all of our strong performances and put them together for a strong run at Laguna this weekend.”

“Although we spent a lot of time in the pits at Petit, the lap time charts proves the speed of our car,” said team owner Jeff Giangrande. “Laguna is a circuit that should suit the makeup of our aero as well as reward a motor with a lot of torque. We should be right there again to renew the battle with the Astons and Corvettes that was so exciting at Petit.”
