G-Force Racing retired after good start in Istanbul

The 2005 LMES series appear to have taken out a patent for unfavourable climatic conditions. In Turkey also the competition once more proved to be severe. Unfortunately the weather gods were not well inclined towards G-Force, and as the result of a collision after a third of the way into the competition the Courage had to retire from the race. For the G-Force team Istanbul was a difficult end to a heavy learning year.

“Al in all the practice sessions and qualifying had not be too bad for us?, Frank Hahn commented. “All three drove at a similar pace, qualifying in 6th spot in LMP2 and 14th overall, and for the race we decided to play the regularity option. This proved to be the correct choice, because two hours into the competition we were in the top-5 in LMP2 and an excellent final place was within our sights.”

?Unfortunately a collision threw a spanner in the works?, Jean-Fran¦ois Leroch continued. “Whilst doubling I was hit by a slower competitor and the left rear wheel took the brunt of the shock. The wheel bearing was badly damaged forcing us to retire shortly after. A great pity as everything was running pretty smoothly notwithstanding the poor conditions?

“An unfortunate end to a heavy but yet instructive season?, Frank stoically summed up. “We now need to learn from everything that was not 100% during this year and further develop this project. Together with our sponsors, partners and all our team we can then reap the rewards of our efforts in 2006?
