24 Hours of Le Mans

Champion Racing winner in Ecology Trophy for the 2005 24 Heures du Mans

The first Automobile Club de France Ecology Trophy was presented in the A.C.F Reception Rooms on Saturday 26th November 2005 for the best index obtained in the 2005 24 Heures du Mans.

The ACO insisted on the fact that “being the organiser of an international sporting event was not incompatible with the desire to preserve the environment,” said Daniel Poissenot, the Sports Manager.
As these values and preoccupations are shared with the Automobile Club de France, these two bodies decided to collaborate to create the Automobile Club de France Ecology Trophy.

Its principle? It is an award given to a competitor whose car is deemed to have best preserved the environment thanks to an index created by a complex calculation taking into account:

- The best thermal efficiency
- Reduced noise level

Thermal efficiency: This index takes into account the average speed over the total distance covered in 24 hours, the weight of the car and true fuel consumption of each car per 100 kilometres.

Noise level: The level is based on the 20 lowest measurements taken during the race.

The result speaks for itself: The Automobile Club de l’Ouest and the Automobile Club de France are pleased to officialise the victory of Champion Racing, the winner of the first trophy with the team of the
No.3 Audi R8 (LMP 900 category) which also won the race. This trophy adds an additional touch to the triumph of the American entrant as well as immortalising the qualities and performances of the Audi R8s, which filled the first three places in the Ecology Trophy classification.

1st overall and winner of the trophy: Audi R8 Champion Racing no.3; Index 1.132
1st in LM P2 : No.36 Paul Belmondo Racing Courage; Index : 0,593
1st in LM GT1 : No.64 Corvette;Index : 0,081
1st in LM GT2 : No.90 White Lightning Racing Porsche;Index: 0,886
