RML have announced today that their MG Lola EX264 will compete in 2006 Le Mans Series with an AER 2 litre turbo powerplant replacing the normally aspirated 3400cc Judd based engine which carried them to class wins at the Le Mans 24 Hours and Istanbul 1000km races and 2nd in the LMP2 class in the 2005 season. Drivers Mike Newton and Tommy Erdos will again pair up to contest the Le Mans Series with a third driver yet to be confirmed for the Le Mans 24 hours.
The chassis is currently being modified by RML to accept the new installation which will undergo shakedown tests in early March prior to taking part in the Paul Ricard Le Mans Series test. Race debut is scheduled for Istanbul on April 9th.
The car will again be entered as an MG-Lola EX264 with the engine manufacturer designated as AER. It will run in the now familiar striking red white and blue livery of Newton’s AD Group of Companies. Prominent amongst the visible sponsors will be NetVu Connected, Dedicated Micros, RemGuard Visual Management, FlightVu, D-Tec and Altera.
