LMS Monza cancelled?

© Planetlemans

The Le Mans Series organisation released a bulletin last weekend at Paul Ricard stating that the final event in the series, the 1000KM of Monza, will be cancelled. The event, scheduled for the 23rd and 24th of September will not take place as a result of a decision made by a local tribunal order. The tribunal has ordered the circuit to skim its calendar, starting with the noisiest competitions. Obviously the 1000KM for prototypes and GT’s was on the top of their list.
Despite the hopes expressed by the circuit’s management, a replacement event has been actively researched for a month now. This is not an easy task because up until now, most sporting calendars are already filled and a six hour race does not slot easily into the timing of a planned event.

The organisers hope to be in the position to confirm the new event during the Istanbul 1000KM.
