Reigning FIA GT1 Champion Gabriele Gardel, from Switzerland, will make a return to the Championship for the Proximus 24 Hours of Spa, where he will race the GPC Sport Ferrari 430 GT2. “I’m really pleased to be coming back,” he said. “I’ll be racing with Fabrizio De Simone, and I must say that the GT2 category looks to be extremely competitve this year!”
Gardel is racing the Ferrari GT2 in the Spanish GT Championship, claiming third place in Estoril two weeks ago. “Michelotto have done a great job with this car - it’s competitive and nice to drive.” The car uses Pirelli tyres. The other two drivers are yet to be determined, but may include former F1 driver Andrea Montermini. GPC finished second in the Proximus 24 Hours of Spa in 2004, with Vincent Vosse, Mika Salo, Fabio Babini and Philipp Peter.
