Aston Martin Racing BMS will line up a different drivers’ crew at Dijon, next round of the FIA GT Championship. Following an intense technical analysis, in agreement with AMR BMS’ main partner Pirelli, it has been taken the decision to allocate Fabio Babini and Fabrizio Gollin in two different crews.
This choice comes from the will to push more on the tyre development, looking for new solutions which can be more adaptable to the Aston Martin DBR9 characteristics.
The weekend race format, which consists in few free practice hours and a limited quantity of tyres that can be used, does not allow a proper development work programme. Hence the decision to allocate the drivers on car #23 an #24, who will be then able to test a higher quantity of tyres in order to optimize the race strategies. This is a considerable and fundamental work programme, especially if considered as a development programme for the 2007 season.
Fabio Babini: "I consider Fabrizio a very experienced driver. I have done a great job with him in this first part of the season, but I’m a professional driver and my goal is to achieve the best possible results for my team and Pirelli, so I’m at full disposal of Aston Martin Racing BMS and I’m always highly motivated to do well.”
Fabrizio Gollin: "I have faith in my team and I esteem my new team mate Miguel Ramos. This 2006 Championship reveals its high competitiveness race by race and we need to work hard in order to get good results and, especially, to look for the 2007 season. This gives me more energy and, as usual, I’ll do my best.”
