For a second time within a fortnight, France will hold a round of the FIA GT Championship this weekend: The venue will be Dijon, where the RaceAlliance duo of Philipp Peter and Karl Wendlinger in the Red Bull Aston Martin DBR9 wants to confirm its indisputable upward trend last shown in Le Castellet.
And both drivers know how to do it: “We just need to pick up in Dijon where we left off in Le Castellet.”
In Dijon, Philipp Peter will once again be the one to qualify and therefore go through two stints in the race: “A very demanding track with plenty of uphill and downhill sections – a true drivers’ circuit. The fourth place finish in Le Castellet gave us an enormous boost, and it proved that we’re on the right track. That’s why I’m really looking forward to this race.”
For Karl Wendlinger it is crucial to “achieve a good result in qualifying because it’s very, very difficult to overtake in Dijon.” Another issue is “that we need to adjust to the countless bumps. We’ve found a solid base setting for that recently, but we need to continue to work on it during this weekend’s training sessions.”
Team owner Lukas Lichtner-Hoyer, who will not be driving in Dijon this weekend but in a Porsche Sports Cup race at Spa together with Thomas Gruber, is confident as well: “We’ve achieved a quantum leap in Le Castellet with regards to the setup, therefore we hope that we’ll be fighting for a podium position in Dijon.”
