The Convers MenX Team can celebrate after the most competitive race of the season at Jarama where Peter Kox, Robert Pergl, Alexey Vasiliev and the crew earned second place in the final standings which means an automatic entry for next year’s 24 Hours Le Mans.

Spectators at Jarama had expected a thrilling end of the championship and they were not disappointed. The six hour long race showed once again all sides of endurance racing and highlighted the fact the races are finished only after the checquered flag. No less than four teams in the GT1 class started with a hope to win the championship and the race itself was the most intensive of all season. The ranking was changing all the time and the team was as high as second and as low as sixth during the day.
The Care Racing owned Ferrari was running like Swiss watches again and all three drivers stayed on the road, which paid off at the end. Kox was one of the most consistent and quickest drivers over the whole stint while Pergl had to cope with a conservative tyre choice. The grip was better as the rubber was laid down and the team decided to switch to a softer option of the Michelin tyres in the middle of the race. Vasiliev benefited nicely from the improved grip and put in his best laps of the weekend. Kox returned behind the wheel before the end and safely brought the car home in the fifth place. Given the situation on the track it was enough to guarantee second place in the team championship that also brings the valued direct entry to 24 Hours Le Mans.

Peter Kox: „First of all I must say a big thank you to the team because we had a very good and reliable car in all races, which is never easy to achieve. Maybe someone can say that the Maranello is a reliable car but still the team have to put it together. We scored everywhere and our consistency has given us second place overall. The race was hard with some twists but we have a reason to smile.“

Robert Pergl: „I think that I will need some time to fully enjoy the result. One of the reasons is the fact that I do not like this track and I am not happy with my performance in the race. However, I tried to be safe and hand over the car without damage, which I did and that was the most important thing today.“

Alexey Vasiliev: „The second place is a very good result for us and I am very happy. I have had a really good time with the team, there has been a very nice atmosphere and we all have been working very well together. The race was demanding, the car was very good at the beginning of the stint and towards the end developed a bit of oversteer but all in all we brought it home safely and that counts.“

Ivo Horn, technical director: „We are very proud because it has been a very competitive season and we managed to be the only team to score points in all races. The team did a fantastic job with the car in all races and also the drivers were very reliable. Peter did a great job during the whole season but both Robert and Alex also deserve a big credit. They all worked in the same direction and we have got our reward – second place in the championship in what has been probably the most competitive class and an automatic entry to the Le Mans.“
