Le Mans Series

The provisional Le Mans Series 2007 calendar!

About a month after the last Le Mans Series race of the 2006 season the provisional dates for the 2007 Le Mans Series are known. All events are, at this moment, planned as three-day events. The Peugeot 207 Spider Cup will race at all events, the Radical World Cup will join at all races except Monza. Other support series can be added during the season.
The pre-season test at Paul Ricard HTTT will take place on March 25-26. As this is only a week after Sebring it is not yet known what the impact will be on teams and drivers willing to test.

The opening race of the season will be at Monza on April 15, where the series will most probably be joined by the Renault World Series 3.5 cars. The Italian circuit was replaced by Jarama this season when severe problems with noise regulations made it impossible to keep the race on the calendar.

Only three weeks later, on May 6, the Le Mans Series action takes place in Valencia. It will be the second time the Le Mans Series will be in Spain, and the first time on Valencia. As it is the final Le Mans Series event before the Le Mans 24 Hours race this race can be seen as the dress rehearsal for the big race.

Two weeks after the 24 hours of Le Mans the series will race on the Nürburgring. Despite the short period between the two races the July 1st race might not get the additional American cars as the first American Le Mans Series race after Le Mans is planned one week later.

Because of the renovation of Spa-Francorchamps demanded by Bernie Ecclestone the teams will only go to Belgium to race there on August 19. The most favorite race on the Le Mans Series calendar will take place in mid-summer but that does not mean there is no chance of rain. Just as in Monza at the start of the season it is possible that the Renault World Series 3.5 cars will be in action during this weekend as well.

The final race of the series will be on Silverstone. After the wet race at Silverstone in 2005 the series left for Donington in 2006 but will return to the Northamptonshire track again next season.

The provisional Le Mans Series 2007 calendar in brief:

25-26 March - Test days – Paul Ricard HTTT
13-15 April - 1000KM of Monza
4-6 May - 1000 KM of Valencia
29 June-1 July- 1000 KM of the Nürburgring
