2006 Le Mans Series LMP2 championship winning team Barazi-Epsilon, along with LMS P2 champion drivers Juan Barazi and Michael Vergers, announced today that they will defend their titles next season with the all-new 2007 Zytek 07S LMP2.
Team co-founder Michel Lecomte commented: "It was a long and very difficult choice - we had excellent proposals from every LMP2 manufacturer. And now we are tremendously excited by the challenge - to be the first team to run this new car, and to develop a strong technical collaboration with the Zytek factory in order to win again in a very competitive category."
Zytek Motorsport’s Team boss Trevor Foster added: “Zytek are delighted to be working with the team at Barazi-Epsilon, and we aim to give them all the support they need to contest the LMP2 title again next year.”
The fully integrated engine / chassis package will be based on Zytek’s successful 06S LMP1 hybrid, with power from Zytek’s own 3.4 litre normally aspirated V-8 (as introduced into LMP2 in Binnie Motorsport’s Lola in 2006). The Le Mans-based squad will continue on Michelin tyres as they target the five-race LMS programme and the 24 Hours of Le Mans where, of course, they have already earned a guaranteed invitation for 2007. A third driver to partner Vergers and Barazi for the season has not yet been chosen.
