Automatic entries for the 2007 “24 Heures du Mans”

The winners of the different Le Mans Series have now been designated (the last: the European Le Mans Series, this weekend in the A.C.F Salons in Paris); the list of automatic entries for the 2007 Le Mans 24 Hours can now be completed in the light of the 2006 results. The automatic entries consist of 24 cars enhancing the performances of the 16 entrants during the season that has just ended.
The automatically selected entrants have until 8th January (included) to confirm their participation. In case of withdrawal the places left vacant will not be reattributed.

The AS A.C.O “24 Heures du Mans” has set the date of 24th January (included) 2007 for the reception of entry forms. These will then be passed on to the Selection Committee for examination.

The criteria for the attribution of places in the different series are as follows:
– 2006 Le Mans 24 Hours: The first two entrants in each category,
– Petit Le Mans: The winning entrant in each category,
– Le Mans Series: The first two entrants in each category,
– American Le Mans Series: The winning entrant in each category.

As an entrant cannot have more than two automatic entries, the invitation is then awarded to the following entrant in the classification of the event or series in question.

An examination of the results highlights two special cases:

During the “Petit Le Mans” the two Aston Martin DBR9s that came first and second received a special waiver because of their non-conformity with the ACO technical regulations, so the selection was attributed to the following entrant, Corvette Racing (1), already credited with an automatic entry thanks to its victory in the Le Mans 24 Hours. Nonetheless Aston Martin Racing has obtained an automatic entry due to its second place in the final LM GT1 results in the 2006 American Le Mans Series.

As the Porsche 911 GT3 RSR victorious in the LM GT2 Category in the “Petit Le Mans” raced in the event under a technical waiver, the automatic selection has been attributed to Risi Competizione (2) winner of the LM GT2 category in the 2006 American Le Mans Series final results.{mospagebreak }
