The entrants of the first two cars in the 2006 FIA GT Championship GT1 and GT2 categories have been awarded an invitation for the 2007 Le Mans 24 Hours by the Automobile Club de l’Ouest.
The attribution of these four invitations in addition to the first 24 cars was decided following an agreement between Mr. Jean-Claude Plassart, the President of the Automobile Club de l’Ouest and the A.S.A. A.C.O. of the “24 Heures du Mans”, and Mr. Stéphane Ratel, the director of the S.R.O Motorsports Group, the organiser of the FIA GT Championship.
In accordance with the final overall classification of the 2006 FIA GT Championship, the entrants in the first two places in the FIA GT1 and GT2 categories have been awarded invitations provided that the car in question complies with the Automobile Club de l’Ouest regulations.
The entrants who have been awarded these invitations are:
2006 FIA GT1
1st : VITAPHONE RACING TEAM
2nd: ASTON MARTIN RACING BMS
2006 FIA GT2
1st : AF CORSE
2nd: SCUDERIA ECOSSE
The decision to award an additional 4 invitations brings the number of cars automatically selected to 28 for 20 entrants (as compared to 24 for 16 beforehand).
Reminder: the automatically selected entrants have until 8th January 2007 included to confirm their participation.
