Just within one week, the third race of the Belcar season will take place on the world famous circuit of Spa-Francorchamps. From this race on, Planetlemans will take coverage of this spectaculair Belgian endurance championship. You will find up-to-date reports and pictures from every upcoming race.
The first race of the Belcar championship took place on the Zolder circuit, Belgium. The large crowd attending the race witnessed how reigning champions Bert Longin en Anthony Kumpen claimed their first victory of the season, with their PK Carsport Corvette Z06R. In the first part of the race, both the Moslers and the Racing for Belgium’s Aston Martin DBR9S could take up the pace with the Corvette. But soon after that both of the Moslers had to stop their race due to technical failure and the Aston Martin fell way back after their pitsstop, finishing in 6th position. Team GPR’s Porsches had an excelent start of the season as well, as Soulet and Dumarey finishing second and Duez and Maes in third position.
After the First race the entire circus crossed over to Great Brittain. True tradion Belcar visits a cross border circuit every year. After been at Lausitzring last year, this year Belcar visited the legendary Donington circuit. Other than the first race, the two Moslers managed to fill up the complete frontrow, after qualifying. Both Moslers had a great start aswell, but PK Carsport’s Corvette, kept up with their pace, turning the race into a thriller. After the pitsstops the ranking got completelly mixed up, with Longin and Kumpin on P1 again. With only one lap lasting in the race, PK’s Corvette stopped due to engine failure, giving Radermecker and Lemeret it’s first victory for Gravity Racing International. Longin and Kumpen were classified as second, just before Coekelbergs and Marchal with their Aston Martin DBR9S.
After this thrilling race, teams are now gearing up for round three in Spa-Francorchamps. On Saturday the 9th of june, at 11.00 the lights will turn green and the race will be off for it’s 125 minutes.
