First Lamborghini pole in Belcar

The Belcar guestcar, the Lamborghini Gallardo GT3, with Peter Kox and Marius Ritskes will start from pole position for the Belcar Midsummer Race at the Zolder circuit, this afternoon. After both sessions they managed to put a 1:33.681 on the top of the timesheet. Second on the frontrow is the number 24 Mosler of Gravity International Racing, which was almost one second slower than the pole position time. On third position we’ll find the PK Carsport Corvette, who couldn’t improve their first sessions time.

During the first qualifying session, we saw a exciting battle between the PK Carsport Corvette C6R and the ACS Lamborghini Gallardo GT3. Both cars were almost on the same pace during the entire session. It was Kox to be very fast in the beginning of the first session, but Kumpen and Longin were able to beat the Lambo’s time later on in the session.

So after the first qualifying, PK Carsport took the provisional pole-position, with ACS Racing coming in second. Third in the first session was G&A’s Mosler, with De Keersmaecker and Kenis. On fourth position it was the Racing for Belgium’s Aston Martin DBRS9.

Fastest Class 2 car in the first session was the NGT Porsche with Neyens and Couwberghs, coming in 15th overall. This car has been up front for almost the entire season. Second in Class 2 we find the First Motorsport Porsche 996GT3 with startnumber 155, at that time being almost over two seconds slower than the first in class. NGT racer, Marc Neyens was very satisfied after the first session; "Our team did a great job again, preparing the car for this Midsummer race, with again being faster as our opponents. The only thing we hope is that it won’t be any rain for the rest of the day, keep things clean, and increase our championship position"

In Class 3 the Ultima GTR turned out as a surprise, setting the fastest time. Belgium Racing was even two seconds quicker than the second car in class, the CEO Racing, Porsche 996RS.

After the first session the teams were eager to get back out again, and get along with this excitement. The only thing which could spoil the excitement for the second session is……..rain!. During the team’s lunchbreak, dark clouds gathered above the Belgian circuit, with the possibility of a shower during the second session.

At 13.05 the second qualifying session started, with the even numbered cars, doing their first stints. Almost all the teams were working on better laptimes then they did in the first session. One of the teams having trouble to find their pace again is PK Carsport. In the first session they had a great fight with the Lamborghini but in the second session, the team couldn’t compete with the Lambo’s pace.
In the both the other classes there wasn’t as much excitement. NGT claimed another Class 2 pole and in Class 3 the Ultima didn’t even need to come into action in the second session, to claim their class pole.

Due to this results, the Belcar has it’s first Lamborghini pole position. With the championship leaders in third position, we have a great outlook to another spectaculair race.
