FIA GT Spa 24: Race Hour 12 and 13

Heading into the twelfth hour of the race. The situation at the front remains unchanged, Carsport Holland is 37 seconds ahead of the Scuderia Playteam Sarafree nr 11. BMS Scuderia Italia’s Porsche 997 is leading in GT2 and is eighth overall.
03:00- Ben Aucott and Raymond Narac are in the box.

03:15- Apart from several pit stops not much has happened…and when we mention this it is Montanari setting the fastest Maserati nr 2 lap (2:16.669).

03:22- Montanari keeps setting fast lap times, a few seconds quicker than the cars around him.

03:26- The nr 105 G&A Racing Mosler has spun in turn 2.

03:27- Rain at the circuit…"Wet track at most locations"!

03:32- Several cars have gone in to the pits. Gollin is still in the lead.

03:40- The rain seems to have stopped again.

03:46- All top eight cars are GT1 at the moment. positions 9 - 14 are all GT2.

03:48- Francois Jakubowski has set the fastest G3 time so far. The French driver just clocked a 2:30.639 in his Sport Garage Ferrari 430 GT3.

04:00- We are at the halfway point of the Spa 24, the media centre is nearly empty and our editors are nearly falling asleep (proof of this later…)

04:05- More pitstops in the last fifteen minutes, but no changes at the front of the field.

04:17- Philipp Peter is enjoying his outing in the JMB Maserati. He has just set a 2:18.658, the fastest time this car has set during the race.

04:23- Another fast lap by Mr. Peter, a 2:18.524 is his new best lap time.

04:26- And a 2:18.339…

04:33- The nr 11 Maserati MC12 has been given the ’mechanical flag’. The rear lights on the Scuderia Playteam Sarafree car are not working. Bertolini has to return to the box.

04:36- Hezemans brings the Corvette into the pit lane for another stop.

04:45- Classification: GT1: 5-1-2, GT2: 97-51-76, G2: 103-105-106, G3: 174-124-175, CdR: 201-215

04:47- Peter Kox in the Lamborghini Murcièlago is stopped in turn 15. At the same time the nr 18 SRT Corvette seems to have a fuel problem.

04:49- Bertolini returns to the track, the Maserati has been in the box for 8 minutes after its rear lights were not working. The team has solved the problem and the car is back in the race.

04:51- Damien Coens has made it back to the pit. It was apparently the fuel, as the car is quickly sent out again after a full service.

04:53- Once again a mechanical flag for the nr 11 Maserati. Pier Guidi has to return the car to the pit again.

04:58- As Pier Guidi leaves the pit again with working rear lights there is a brief yellow flag situation at turn 17.
