FIA GT Spa 24: Race Hour 18

© Planetlemans - Marcel ten Caat

Seven hours remaining. Looks like we are in for a hot race (in the rain?). Lamy is within a minute of Gollin and Porsche is leading in GT2. Let’s quickly return to the action
09:00- Lamy is out again, he lost some time again, but at the same moment Gollin has come into the box.

09:02- Also into the pit the nr 4 PK Carsport Corvette. This car is currently third.

09:03- Bert Longin has taken over from Fred Bouvy.

09:05- Both the Vitaphone nr 1 and Carsport nr 5 have completed one flying lap after coming out of the box, the gap between the two cars is now 49 seconds!

09:07- Lemeret and Müller take their Maserati MC12s into the box.

09:15- The gap between the numbers 1 and 2 is now 41.5 seconds. Meanwhile live images from the track have returned to the media centre. A nice and very welcome addition…

09:16- Another great lap by Lamy…the gap has gone back to 33.256 seconds. With this pace the Maserati will have closed the gap to the Corvette within a lap or 10.

09:18- Blue screens instead of live images again…difference 30.501 seconds

09:24- Really informative tv images now…top view of the track where we can see rain and cars flying by in a split-second. 25 seconds between Carsport and Vitaphone.

09:27- 21.9 seconds and counting.

09:29- Gollin finally reacts! His latest lap was 2 seconds quicker than Lamy.

09:39- The gap between Gollin and Lamy seems to be staying around 25 seconds. One lap Gollin is quicker, the other lap Lamy is quicker.

09:46- The fight continues…and the gap is still between 20 and 25 seconds.

09:51- While Gollin and Lamy fight for the lead there are two other Maserati MC12s going even faster. Montanari and De Simone are doing similar or quicker laptimes.

09:53- Accident in the Raidillon. The Ebimotors Porsche slid off and went into the tyres backwards. They were fourth in GT2 at the time of the accident.

09:54- The Ebimotors Porsche is damaged so much that it will not be able to rejoin the race. Another retirement, promoting the nr 63 Scuderia Ecosse Ferrari into fourth place.

09:57- Lamy is now eleven seconds behind Gollin! The nr 3 Corvette is in the box.
