FIA GT Spa 24: Race Hour 8 and 9

The 8th hour of the race began. Bertolini leads overall with 166 laps. No more JetAlliance Aston Martin. Long safety car period behind us.
23:12- Carsport Holland Corvette C6-R is in the box. The car is currently second. Deletraz is out, Marcel Fässler is in.

23:15- Eighth placed SRT Corvette C5-R also in the box for its regular pit stop.

23:16- Old times return at Spa. Maserati are 1-2-3. The nr 11 Scuderia Playteam Sarafree MC12 is first, Vitaphones nrs 2 and 1 are second and third. Behind the three Maserati’s are two Corvettes.

23:19- Fred Bouvy had a problem in the pit lane, the door did not close in the first couple of attempts. They lost some time thanks to this problem.

23:22- Monfardini in the box.

23:24- The two leading Maserati MC12s are in the pit lane for their pitstop

23:30- Most teams have made another stop. Fireworks is coloring the skies over the Spa circuit at the moment.

23:34- The nr 103 Gravity Mosler of Muytjens has been involved in a coming together. The car has lost some time, but is able to continue.

23:36- Diego Alessi in the nr 23 Aston Martin Racing BMS DBR9 has gone off. The car is in the gravel trap at turn 13.

23:40- Not everything is going wrong for BMS. Their Porsche 997 GT3 RSR is currently first in GT2 and ninth overall.

23:44- Joel Camathias records a new fastest laptime for the James Watt Automotive Porsche. He’s just set a 2:26.987, still nearly three seconds of the fastest GT2 lap time.

23:47- Diego Alessi has made it out of the gravel trap and is back in his pit with the nr 23 Aston Martin. He has dropped back to eighth place overall.

23:53- Fabio Babini is back on track with the Aston Martin Racing BMS DBR9. The car has already dropped back to eleventh place. There are now 2 GT2 cars inside the top ten.

00:00- Midnight!!! Here are the standings per class…

00:13- Matteo Bobbi has gotten into second place overall and GT1. In GT2 the IMSA Performance Matmut car is back in third. Porsche is now in first and third.

00:23- Not much is happening at the circuit. We only have French commentary on the radio, no live images and the commentators are now calling for some parents to pick up their lost child.

00:25- A new leader again…the nr 11 Scuderia Playteam Sarafree Maserati of Pier Guidi is now leading the race.

00:29- The Alphand Corvette has made a pitstop. The car is now running in fifth place, 2 laps behind the leading Maserati.

00:41- Fässler in the Carsport Corvette has gotten ahead of Pier Guidi again. The gap is now 1 minute and 10 seconds. The Maserati cars are second, third and fourth.

00:55- As you might have noticed there is not much happening out on the circuit. There is no rain, no incidents, just regular pitstops…but we are almost ready to go into the tenth hour of the race.
