The “24 Hours of Zolder” are the yearly highlight of the Mediagroep Van Dijck Belcar season. In exactly one month, on the 8th and 9th of September, the Belgian GT3-championship will be at the Zolder track for the start of the double race around the clock.
So it’s time to take a first look at the main competitors.
In Division 1, some of the main contenders already announced their driver line-up for the upcoming race.
PK Carsport finally decided to enter the Corvette Z06, the car that already won twice this season. Kurt Mollekens and double Zolder 24 Hours winner David Hart will join Longin and Kumpen in the green Corvette. Both regulars will face a hard weekend, as they also race at Adria in FIA GT that same weekend.
GPR, one of the most important rivals of PK Carsport, has almost finalized its Porsche crews. In the #56, the closest rival of the Corvette in the championship standings, we’ll see the very experienced Marc Goossens and Maxime Dumarey joining Guillaume Dumarey and young gun Maxime Soulet.
On the #55, Ruben Maes and Marc Duez will line up with Tim Verbergt and most probably with his BTCS-team mate ‘Jef’ Hemroulle.
Prospeed is one of the other strong Porsche teams and the team will be an important outsider for overall victory. Fred Bouvy and David Loix will see WRC-winner François Duval and endurance regular Armand Fumal behind the wheel of their 997 GT3.
Racing For Belgium, Gravity International and A+ are still question marks, but AD and First already finished their home work.
AD comes to Zolder with Koen and Kris Wauters, Raf Vanthoor and Jan Heylen on the Viper, while Albert Vanierschot, Harry Steegmans, Patrick Schreurs and Eric Bruynooghe will race the AD Porsche 997.
Jo Jamers of First does it with François Verbist and Stef Van Campenhoudt together with regulars Henk Haane and Gosse Stielstra on the 997 GT3. Pascal Nelissen-Grade, Jan Van Uytsel, Frank Beliën, Edo Devries, Wim Jeuris, Ronald Vetters and father and son Van Rompuy are the drivers for both the Porsches 996 in Division 2. G&A is still waiting for the Mosler crew, but Spa G2 winner Chris Mattheus, will do it with the BMW Z4 GT4 of the team.
