Reiter Engineering skips penultimate round

The ninth round of the FIA GT is scheduled for 29th and 30th September next, the penultimate race of the season. “Our eighth place in Brno was a bitter pill to swallow”, a disappointed Jos Menten comments, looking back on the Czech Republic weekend. “It’s difficult for me to express what I felt. We have never been that so close to a top result this year. A wheel nut which was the difference between celebrating with champagne and a meek point for finishing … but as always I only try to look at the positive side: fastest during practice, fastest time in the warm-up and the fastest race lap.”
Nogaro was also going to be an ideal circuit for the Lamborghini Murciélago R-GT, however team boss Hans Reiter has decided to cry off from this race in the south of France: “The wheel nut that we had fitted three laps before the end of the race also showed signs of cracks after the race. The persistent problems with the components have forced me to make this difficult decision. If I cannot guarantee the safety of my drivers I prefer to keep the car in the garage. The wheel nut supplier is in fact the same as the one who supplies the wheel hubs (which broke off in the ADAC GT Masters at Sachsenring), the differential (problems in Spa-Francorchamps and Adria) as also the drive shafts (Spa-Francorchamps). I’m now going to do everything in my power to prepare the car for the final round of the season in Belgium”, Hans Reiter told us.

“It would really be great for us to come up trumps in Belgium. Hans Reiter and his crew have invested a great deal of time in developing the Lamborghini Murciélago R-GT. I hope that our results in the previous races will have opened up a few eyes, and that all those critics will now admit that the Murciélago is a great weapon with which to do battle”, a hard-hitting Menten added.
