Earlier today London (UK) based driver Chris Buncombe successfully completed a test for Honda Racing and Team Kunimitsu in their Honda NSX Super GT500 car at Twin Ring Motegi, Japan.
Chris was invited to test following his successful season in the Le Mans Series (LMS) driving the Binnie Motorsports Lola Zytek LMP2.
Despite not having driven since the UK round of the LMS at Silverstone in September and having never turned a wheel on the 4.8km Motegi road course circuit, Chris soon got to grips with the Super GT Car ending the test, setting a time of 1m 45.2 which equals the fastest time set during official qualifying sessions at the race event earlier in the season. Chris was joined at the test by the Team Kunimitsu’s regular driver Shinya Hosokawa.
“I thoroughly enjoyed the experience of driving the Honda NSX, it’s a fantastic car to drive. The car has a lot of aero grip and in fact as its mid-engined the balance is not dissimilar from the prototype car. The main difference for me was getting used to driving with steel brakes again as I have been racing cars with carbon brakes for the last few years”.
The Chic Shopping Europe and Click Culture backed driver concluded “I would like to thank Honda and Team Kunimitsu for giving me this opportunity. The Japanese Super GT Championship is a fantastic series and the Honda NSX is obviously the class of the field at the moment having just won this years championship” commented Chris.
