FIA-GT demo in Punta del Este

A last minute cancellation of the Reutemann-Piquet demo saw 4 cars of the FIA-GT3 Brazilian championship take to the brand new street circuit at Punta del Este in the hands of Argentinian drivers Gastón Mazzacane, "Pechito" López and touring car legend Juan María Traverso. Local credit "Fufy" Caceres was also able to put some demo laps in front of the over 30.000 crowd attending the event on Saturday.

The Brazilian GT3 championship will extend next year to this circuit in Uruguay as well as San Luis in Argentina (Potrero de los Funes) where a FIA-GT round is planned for 2008.

Punta del Este will probably host a FIA-GT round in 2009 although many details remain to be arranged.
