Our friend Hugo Ribeiro confirms from Portugal that French driver Olivier Pla will join Miguel Amaral behind the wheel of the Quifel ASM Lola during 2008. The Portuguese team will therefore move to a two-driver lineup after keeping a 3-driver scheme the last two seasons with Amaral partnered by Spanish hot-shoes Miguel Ángel de Castro and Ángel Burgueño.

Quifel ASM will be testing the Mazda power plant which is (almost) confirmed for their 2008 LMS (and Le Mans) attack.

The other two drivers that tested with Pla (Portuguese GP2 ace Filipe Albuquerque and the Brazilian “Xandinho” Negrão) are still in contention for the Le Mans-only 3rd seat in the team. Sportmotores from Portugal also mentions Guy Smith as a potential third driver so the options are pretty open from here to June.
