2008 Sebring Winter Test - Day 2 Report

The second day of testing at Sebring started early at 8 am with a two hour test session for all classes. After hitting trouble during the second test session yesterday the nr 07 Peugeot 908 HDi FAP was back on track and impressed everyone by setting a very quick lap, eight tenths of a second quicker than the nr 2 Audi R10 TDi.

The B-K Motorsport Lola Mazda was out in its new color scheme for the first time today and we must admit it looks really good on the Lola. With BP and Yokohama joining the team as partners for the new season the team seems to be making a step forward. The team also confirmed Ben Devlin and Jamie Bach, with a third driver to be added for the long distance ALMS events.

In the GT1 class the nr 08 Aston Martin DBR9 broke the 2 minute barrier for the first time today, after setting a 2:00.148 yesterday. Fastest of the smallest cars was the nr 62 Risi Competizione Ferrari 430 GT2, as expected.

The second and final session showed the same image as yesterdays sessions with the Audi R10 on top, followed by the Peugeot 908 at a tenth of a second. The quickest LMP2 cars were over 1.3 seconds slower, with the nr 6 Team Penske Porsche RS Spyder taking the LMP2 honours. Intersport Racing only managed to do one lap this session.

For the first time the GT2 class did not have the Risi Competizione Ferrari nr 62 on top as the nr 71 Tafel Racing Ferrari was quicker in the fifth session. The session also marked the first track action for the nr 22 Panoz Esperante which had been unused during the first four sessions.
