A few weeks ago it was confirmed that the Speedy Racing Team would enter two cars in the upcoming Le Mans Series season, a Spyker in GT2 and the new Lola B08/80 in LMP2. Today the Swiss team announced the driver line-up they are likely to enter in the Le Mans Series and at Le Mans.

Here is the complete press release as it was sent out by Speedy Racing Team today.

The “Speedy Racing Team” wants to carry high the flag of the Helvetic nation and puts pressure this season with a participation in the World championship of endurance organized by LMS (Le Mans Series), as well as a participation in the mythical Le Mans 24 Hours.

Something new? On one side, a Spyker GT2R which did not cease evolving throughout season 2007 to end in 5th place of its category in front of Porsche and others Ferrari. On the other side, two categories above, in LM-P2, a very new and unique Lola B08/80 motorized by the new motors V8 Judd DB! Two outstanding vehicles for a hired team which wants to win!

Spyker Laviolette GT2R: with better aerodynamics, modifications on the chassis, an engine up to 4’000cc with increased power, it becomes very aggressive!

Lola B08/80: of course most information remains secret, we can only announced a rough power of 550 CV and a weight of about 950 kg. Lola Cars being one of the pioneers and main manufacturers of sports cars for the championship GP2 series, it will be one of the divas of this championship.

Both sports cars will be followed by professional teams, on one side the Dutch Spyker Squadron managed by Hans Van Rennes and Peter Van Erp and on the other side the English team Sebah Racing managed by Hugh Hayden. Both mechanics of the Speedy Garage already present in 2007 will also be in for this outstanding mission.

The pilots:
Spyker GT2R: P. Camandona (SUI) – A. Chiesa (SUI) – B. Leuenberger (SUI)
Lola B08/80: A. Belicchi (ITA) – S. Zacchia (SUI) – X. Pompidou (FRA)
(The list of the 2008 pilots is not final and tests in Castellet will be decisive)

Since the excellent results of last year, several firms of big reputation are deeply interested in the Speedy Racing Team and already carry a broad support at the level of sponsorship in 2008. The Speedy Racing Team puts the year 2008 under the sign of results and more precisely podia in LM-GT2 and wins in LM-P2. Present at Le Mans 24 Hours with some more enthusiasm, an only one and unique objective: a podium!

  4. Its great to have all the new prototype cars out in force. First the Charouz Aston/Lola and now this. It will be very interesting to watch and i think they are the real darkhorses for the LMP2 category this year.
