2008 Sebring Winter Test - Day 3 Report

The third and final day of the Sebring Winter Test got underway at 9:10 am today and the Audi nr 2 set the fastest lap in this session, a 1:44.180. This time was however still slower than the absolute best time of the three days set by Peugeot in the first test session yesterday.

Looking at the combined times after 3 days the Peugeot was eight tenths of a second quicker than the Audi. During the final two sessions the gap between Peugeot and Audi was even more than a second!

In the first session this morning the Patron Highcroft Racing had an off, David Brabham reported that the steering locked and the car went into the wall at turn 6, causing damage to the nose section of the Acura. As soon as the car was back in the paddock the Highcroft mechanics rushed to work in an attempt to get the car back on the track again. Unfortunately the team was forced to skip the second session, but they did return in the third session.

The fight for the fastest time in GT2 was again a battle between the two Ferrari 430 GT2s of Risi Competizione (nr 62) and Tafel Racing (nr 71). In the first session the Risi car was quicker, in the second session it was the other way around again. In the final session of the week the Risi car was on top again.

Bell Motorsports with its lonely GT1 Aston Martin threw in some more laps today, the fastest laps again just under two minutes, before calling it quits after the second session.

The Intersport Racing Lola and nr 61 Risi Competizione Ferrari 430 did not do any lap on Wednesday.
