Larbre Competition, one of the most successful teams in the history of the FIA GT Championship, has announced that it will be back for the 2008 season, with a Saleen S7R driven by Belgian drivers Vincent Vosse and Grégory Franchi.

French team Larbre Competition has an unequalled performance record in the FIA GT, having won a title each time it completed a full season. The inaugural N-GT title in 2000 was followed by the GT Championship in 2001 and 2002 – all three with Christophe Bouchut at the wheel. In 2005, the team claimed the Drivers title for Gabriele Gardel, at the wheel of a Ferrari 550 Maranello.

For 2008, Larbre’s ambitions are high, aiming for the top. “Considering the level of competition in the Championship, we had to put as many qualities as possible on our side,” Jack Leconte explained. “The performance of the Saleen S7R is excellent. As for the drivers, Vincent has nothing to prove, while Greg showed last year that he has all the qualities to be at the front.”

Vincent Vosse explained his choice : “I finished on the podium in the 24 Hours of Spa every time I have competed with Larbre Competition – including the magnificent victory in 2002, which is one of the best of my career. If you add the title I won with the team in the 2006 Le Mans Series, this new page in my career can only be synonymous with success. And then, my association with the FIA GT is a long history with 19 podiums and two wins to date. Of course, my aim is to further improve these statistics during the coming season !”

Greg Franchi has also competed in the Total 24 Hours of Spa in 2007, finishing 6th with the Luc Alphand Aventures Corvette C6R. “After a learning season in 2007, it is time for me to move up a gear,” he commented. “Larbre is the best in the business, and driving with Vincent should allow me to be at the front. If you add the Saleen to this mix, all the lights are green!”

  3. It is good to see them back in FIA GT, but I think that they should have put both cars in the same series.
