The Lavaggi LS1 engaged last year at 1000km of Monza, Nürburgring and Spa by the Monegasque team bearing the same name, will be racing again this year in selected races of “Le Mans Series” championship. Scuderia Lavaggi, being not present in the season entry list of LMS 2008 championship, arose great astonishment among media and motorsports fans; therefore we wish to confirm that, same as last year, we will be certainly present at the 1000 Km of Nürburgring and Spa.

This choice is exclusively determined by present agreements with Siram and Merlett, regular sponsors of Scuderia Lavaggi. Moreover, the growing interest on Le Mans Series, suggested, in accordance with the organizers, to make room in the season entry list for cars whose presence has been guaranteed at all races of the series. Anyway, in the next weeks, our engagement could be extended to other races.

Giovanni Lavaggi: “My project of re-proposing, in a modern way, the exploits of motorsports pioneers by designing, building and then personally driving a sports-prototype, is going ahead. I was touched by reading the press articles and positive comments of motorsports fans who understand and support my difficult challenge. Last year we suffered several troubles and failures of the engine which we could not easily find remedy for, as the engine comes from a old style road engine. On the other hand our chassis gave us great satisfaction; it allowed us to run keeping up the pace of cars which, on paper, were supposed to perform better than ours. That’s why I decided to put the maximum effort in order to have a “racing” engine installed in our LS1 for 2008 season. I’m very please to confirm that the AER 8V bi-turbo engine, which has already proved to be reliable and competitive will push our LS1 …….hopefully towards prestigious finishes.”

Mike Lancaster (AER): “We are honoured to have been chosen by Lavaggi to power the LS1. The new Lavaggi chassis has shown much promise and we look forward to helping Lavaggi achieve success after the incredible effort they have made getting this exciting project to the track.”

Patrick Peter (LMS): “We have always folowed the ambitious projects of Giovanni Lavaggi. We’ll be very happy to host the team at Spa with their LS1 and wish them lots of success.”

  3. Ah, your sources are good Gabe my man! Spa und Der Ring, huh? Hopefully under AER power the car will at least finish, but if they have even half the pace as last season, they will definetly cause Peugeot to lose some sleep (hopefully).
