A new team joins the GT racing ranks for the 2008 motorsport season. InterProgressBank Spartak Racing in cooperation with Reiter Engineering enters a Lamborghini Murciélago R-GT in the Le Mans Series in the classic 1,000 kilometres races and also the legendary 24 Hours of Le Mans.

The Russian finance concern InterProgressBank has been actively involved in sport with the renowned ice hockey club Spartak Moskau and now extends it activities to include motorsport.

Peter Kox (NL) and Roman Rusinov (RUS) were signed as drivers for the ambitious project. The 43-year old Dutchman Peter Kox has been involved in Reiter Engineering’s Murciélago project since its inception and, as a result, the new team will benefit enormously from his experience. Kox started his motorsport career in 1978, and has been at home in sportscars for more than a decade. His greatest moment was certainly winning the GT1 category at the 2h Hours of Le Mans in 2003. Roman Rusinov (RUS) made his way through the kart and formula ranks before opting for sportscars in 2003 and was Rusinov 2004 GT winner in the Le Mans Series.

A brand new 2008 Murciélago R-GT chassis for InterProgressBank Spartak Racing is currently being built at Reiter Engineering. Before the season opens the car will be fitted with a revised aerodynamic package, which receives its final tweak in the Audi wind tunnel in Ingolstadt. The InterProgressBank Spartak Racing test programme started last week at the Italian circuits of Adria and Mugello. Next stop on the agenda is the offi cial Le Mans Series test on 2 and 3 March in Paul Ricard, France where the team goes head to head for the fi rst time with the strong competition.

“The goal for this season is to finish regularly on the podium,” says Hans Reiter of Reiter Engineering. “We have further developed the Lamborghini Murciélago R-GT for the 2008 season to ensure that InterProgressBank Spartak Racing has an excellent chance.”

  1. Hmmmm, lovely livery! Let’s hope Rusinov is on the pace with Kox…
B.t.w.,will Peter Kox be driving this in the 24hrs of Le Mans or is he gonna go for an Aston drive?

  2. This is a very nice looking car, and it is believed that Peter Kox will be driving this at the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

  3. Rusinov has no racing practice since his tests for Midland F1 I suppose. And has the team solved the problem with that unreliable spares supplier?
