Dutch drivers Nicky Francesco Pastorelli will compete in the American Le Mans Series this season, starting at St. Petersburg next weekend. In a press release the two Dutch drivers confirmed today that they will be driving a VICI Racing Porsche 997 GT3 RSR at the Florida street course.
While the deal seems to be done, everything will depend on the car being ready. According to Pastorelli the VICI Racing team is working hard to get the car ready for the race, after a late delivery of the car from Porsche. As a result the VICI Racing mechanics are now working overhours to prepare the car for this weekend. Prior to Sebring the team already confirmed that a second Porsche 997 GT3 RSR would be entered after Sebring as part of the tire development program. By then the team was looking for drivers and sponsors for this car, which they seem to have found in the Pastorelli brothers.
Nicky Pastorelli is familiar with the VICI Racing team. In 2007 he completed one stint in the teams Fabcar Daytona Prototype, before Gastón Mazzacane crashed the car. A year before he had partial season in Champ Car driving for Rocketsports Racing. Francesco Pastorelli, Nicky’s younger brother, will also join the team. Pastorelli recently competed in the Benelux Racing League and won the 2007 Dutch and Benelux Formula Ford Duratec championship.
Nicky Pastorelli will also take part in the Dutch Supercar Challenge, but will miss the first round of the series at the German Nürburgring as this race clashes with the Tequila Patrón American Le Mans Series at Long Beach.
wow good step for these two dutch drivers. I think both talented and they will do well
Talented and “wealthy” guys. I just hope they’re up to pace with the front runners.
