Selleslagh Racing Team (SRT) presented their new car and their Dutch driver Xavier Maassen to the media today. The presentation was held at a spectacular location in Maastricht, located in the south of The Netherlands, close to Belgium were SRT has its home base.
The team showed of their new Corvette C6.R which will compete in this years FIA GT World Championship. The SRT Corvette will be one of the cars to have a big chances in competing for the overall championship. At the official FIA GT test days at Monza, only a few weeks ago, the team already showed of their speed as they set the fastest time overall, during the entire test. As Planetlemans already announced before, the SRT Corvette is a former Corvette Racing USA C6.R, which has been used in the ALMS in 2007. The 06 chassis to be exact.
Next to former worldchampion Christophe Bouchut, Dutch young-gun Xavier Maassen will complete SRT’s driver line-up. The Dutchman raced in the World Series by Renault last year and is now making his way into GT racing. During the Monza test, he already showed his speed, and reliability to the team. “He will make a great couple with Bouchut” according to team manager Peter Selleslagh. Xavier can learn a lot from Christophe and will make a great addition to the team”.
Xavier: “I’m really looking to the first race in Silverstone. During the test days I was a bit uncomfortable at first, getting used to a roof above my head, he says with a smile. But after just only a few laps the car gave me so much confidence that it allowed me to feel comfortable to speed up. You can really notice that this car is designed and built by one of the best racingbrands worldwide, the car is just great”.
SRT will finish up their preparations as they gear up for the first round of the Championship in Silverstone, April 20th.
