Le Mans test day – Times at 9:30

The first half hour of test day has stayed dry and has enabled the teams to put some “normal” times, even as rain is forecasted for later in the morning. Many of the teams are focussed on having their “rookie” drivers (anyone not driving here in the last 3 years is considered so) take their mandatory 10 laps around the circuit.

Most of the cars went out early and the Peugeots seem to have the edge on speed as expected. Obviously the teams won’t be trying for qualifying-type times so early in the day and the LMP2 cars are clearly only warming up for later on. The GT classes starting to run as well, mainly also with “rookie” duties being completed before any potential weather woes arrive, yesterday being a terrible weather day with the track flooded at many points.

The first batch of times is as follows

  1. NOW Le Mans has started – I can feel the fever :)

The rain has started on the gtrack, I am told. A shame but good training I guess.

  2. well, that rain(?) sofar has not stopped Michael Vergers to currently (10.30) be the fastest overall petrol car….good to see that the number 9 Peugeot is now being driven by Mr. Klein (!!)

    greetings from Bishkek…

  3. next question, is there any trace of the second Epsilon?

    Posted by Pieter | June 1, 2008, 9:51
  4. No, its in the truck. The car in use is a new car, the one in the truck is the LMS chassis. Epsilon will not have two Euskadis in the race, the reserve was deleted some time ago – new rules this year. All reserves must have been called upon even before the first trainingsession, which is today.

  8. ACO will go ape, when they see that 3.22 laptime..!

The last years they have restricted the dieselrockets, exactly for that reason.

  9. They ACO only restricted the AMOUNT of fuel for diesels in LMP1, not their pace.

  10. Hope corvette racing comes through but the #009 Aston Martin has a superstar lineup with David Brabam Daren Turner and Antonio Garcia. Very fast trio.

I would love to see that lineup at petit Lemans
