The Epsilon Euskadi 2008 24 Hours of Le Mans drivers talk about their impressions and wishes.

Angel Burgueño

Q-What does Le Mans mean for you?

A-It’s a myth. I raced everything, from karting to World Series, except F1 and Le Mans, so for me it’s a dream come true.

Q-What is your opinion about ee1 LMP1 car?

A-We’ve developed the car so much from the first shakedown on February, but LMS calendar, with so many consecutive races, has been a handicap for us.

Q-And about Epsilon’s project as a whole?

A-It’s simply incredible. An important project to show Spanish R&D capabilities. They will be able to build any car.

Q-Target for the race.

A-Finish in top 10 would be a big success.

Q-Tell me a few words about your team mates.

A-In spite of his youth, Vallés has a lot of experience. He’s one of the strongest Spanish promises to climb up to F1. Miguel Angel is a perfect choose for this race. He’s fast and consistent.

Miguel Angel De Castro

Q-What does Le Mans mean for you?

A-The best race ever! I’m in this game thanks to Steve McQueen’s Le Mans film!

Q-What is your opinion about ee1 LMP1car?

A-Reliable. Of course, we have the logical problems of a new car.

Q-And about Epsilon’s project as a whole?

A-Joan Villadelprat is somebody with very clear opinions. I’m not sure if Spain is ready to understand something like this. Really, we are having a lack of economic support from national companies.

Q-Target for the race.

A-Simply finish. This is our goal. It’d be a triumph for us.

Q-Tell me a few words about your team mates.

A-Vallés is a young and fast driver coming from GP2. I hope he learns quickly about this kind of race. Burgueño is just the driver for this race: fast, reliable, great tester.

Adrián Vallés

Q-What does Le Mans mean for you?

A-It’s a big step in my career. One of the highest icons in Motorsport.

Q-What is your opinion about the ee1 LMP1 car?

A-I’ve tested it only on wet conditions, but the feeling with the car is really good. I know Peugeot and Audi are out of range for us yet, but we can fight with the other private teams. Reactions are very similar to a single seater, but slower than my GP2.

Q-And about Epsilon’s project as a whole?

A-Serious and ambitious. They aren’t here only to take part.

Q-Target for the race.

A-First goal is to finish. Once finished to be within the top 8.

Q-Tell me a few words about your team mates.

A-Both are fast and experimented drivers. I can learn a lot from them.

One comment for “Interview with the Epsilon Euskadi drivers”

  1. Thank you for this great article :)

A shame that the ee1 project suffers under lack of funding. I think the car looks amazing, and it could probably be very fast as well. A showcase of Spanish eengineering..!
