The temperatures hit the 30 degrees centigrade towards the end of the pre-qualifying session at Adria as the teams battled for the quickest lap times. As the temperature went up the times went down and one team after another went for that ultimate lap. As the chequered flag came out at 13:15 local time it was once again the Phoenix Carsport Corvette on top.
Marcel Fässler beat all his rivals in the final minutes of the session by setting a 1:12.224 in the number 5 Corvette C6.R. His time was over three tenths of a second quicker than Karl Wendlinger in the Jetalliance Racing Aston Martin and just over half a second than his team mate Mike Hezemans in the number 6 Phoenix Carsport Corvette .
In GT2 AF Corse took control again, this time with both cars though. As the Bruni/Vilander driven number 50 Ferrari 430 GT set a 1:15.586 the number 51 of Biagi/Montanari was second. The gap between the two cars was six tenths of a second. Third fastest in GT2 was the Collard/Westbrook Porsche.
The qualifying session for tomorrow’s race will take place later today.
