A blue sky greeted the 27 teams at the Adria International Raceway today as the cars rolled out of their pit boxes for the thirty minute long warm-up session. For a while it was an Aston Martin DBR9 on top of the lists, but when the chequered flag came out it was again the Phoenix Carsport Corvette C6.R of Marcel Fässler and Jean-Denis Deletraz that topped the timing sheets.
Marcel Fässler stopped the clocks at 1:13.301 in the team’s fastest lap, beating the Ryan Sharp and Karl Wendlinger driven Jetalliance Racing Aston Martin by a quarter of a second. Michael Bartels and Andrea Bertolini were third fastest in their Maserati MC12 in the warm-up session and at just over six tenths of a second from the Corvette they were the last car to stay below the 1:14 mark.
AF Corse was quickest again, but this time it wasn’t the number 50 car of Toni Vilander and Gianmaria Bruni but the number 51 of Thomas Biagi and Christian Montanari. For the Sammarinese driver it was a nice present on his 27th birthday and he will undoubtedly hope to be in that same position at the end of the day. The fastest lap time of the Ferrari was 1:16.437. Seconds fastest was the number 78 BMS Scuderia Italia Ferrari, almost four tenths of a second behind the AF Corse car, while the number 56 CR Scuderia rounded up a complete Ferrari top three. GT2 pole sitters Vilander and Bruni only did 4 laps and ended the session in 27th place.
The race will take place tonight between 19:50 and 21:50 Italian time.

Again, great credit to Fässler. Used to praise him in all my DTM transmissions, and he has earned every bit of it. Also great effort from Ferrari in GT2, and love the Vertigo in G2
