Reiter Engineering has just confirmed it will not enter its Lamborghini Murcielago R-GT in the upcoming FIA GT race at Oschersleben this weekend. The decision comes a day after lead driver Peter Kox was injured in an accident in Sunday’s ADAC GT Masters race on the infamous Norisring circuit in Nürnberg.
During the sixth race of the ADAC GT Masters series Peter Kox, driving a team flatex-reiter Lamborghini Gallardo, was involved in a big accident with Frank Kechele in another Lamborghini. Kechele hit the Dutch driver at full speed and both drivers were checked in the medical centre at the track yesterday. Both drivers were released soon after.
However today Kox visited the hospital in The Netherlands where he had some x-ray scans on his leg. After the x-ray pictures were checked by the doctors they decided to fit a plaster cast around his leg.
Due to the plaster cast Kox will not be able to race for a while. For Reiter Engineering the injury of Kox meant they had to find a replacement driver, but the team has now confirmed they do not have enough time between today and the race weekend to find a good driver to fill the vacant seat. As a result the team has decided to pull out of the Oschersleben event.
Planetlemans hopes to see Peter Kox in action soon again and wishes him all the best!
