A blue sky greeted the 27 teams at the Adria International Raceway today as the cars rolled out of their pit boxes for the thirty minute long warm-up session. For a while it was an Aston Martin DBR9 on top of the lists, but when the chequered flag came out it was again the Phoenix Carsport Corvette C6.R of Marcel Fässler and Jean-Denis Deletraz that topped the timing sheets.[...]
For the third time in as many sessions the Phoenix Carsport Corvette C6.R and AF Corse Ferrari 430 GT were on top of the timing sheets at Adria. This time however it was during qualifying which meant both cars will start tomorrow’s night race from the front of their classes.[...]
The temperatures hit the 30 degrees centigrade towards the end of the pre-qualifying session at Adria as the teams battled for the quickest lap times. As the temperature went up the times went down and one team after another went for that ultimate lap. As the chequered flag came out at 13:15 local time it was once again the Phoenix Carsport Corvette on top.[...]
As usual, Planetlemans is not only capturing the race itself but also everything around that fantastic collective manifestation that is the Le Mans 24 Hours. The opening session of the FIA GT weekend at Adria could not be more different weatherwise than the previous round at Monza. Where it was pouring down at Monza the temperature almost hit 30 degrees centigrade this morning. After eighty minutes of action it was the number 5 Phoenix Carsport Corvette that was quickest.[...]
It is just past 4:20 AM and an increasing number of team managers start walking out of the pitbox and start to look at the skies. The tiredness and dozing that are traditional at this hour give way to doubts and adrenaline flowing; is it finally going to rain? While there is one team reacting as a clockwork (Audi), there’s another team that sees their worst case scenario materializing (Peugeot) and this is the defining moment of the 76th edition of the Le Mans 24 Hours, the moment where the tide turns as it so often happens at La Sarthe[...]
For the third round of the 2008 season, the FIA GT Championship remains in Italy, but moves southwards, to a track which is diametrically opposed to the Autodromo Nazionale Monza Short, tight and twisting, the Adria International Raceway, built in 2002, is on the FIA GT calendar for the third time. The race will be held on Saturday evening, racing into the sunset and beyond. For Anthony Kumpen and Bert Longin this race is very important[...]
A very positive mood throughout the team of Jetalliance Racing prior to the third event of the FIA GT Championship next Saturday (June 21st) at Adria Raceway – and for a good reason: Jetalliance Racing is this race’s defending champion. It was Karl Wendlinger who set the pace during last year’s event: fastest in practice, pole position, and P1 in the race – that’s the upper limit for a single weekend[...]
Teams like KSM are “the spirit of Le Mans” – this comment on Eurosport during their Saturday evening broadcast about us was at least a reward for our effort to get the car on the grid for the start of the 24 hours of Le Mans. “Heroes of the weekend” – that title was awarded to us by Radio Le Mans – sounds great, but let’s start with the beginning[...]
The engines have cooled, the driving suits have been hung up, and the GT2 class winning trophies have been carefully packed into the eleven tonnes of freight which are now on their way back from Le Mans in France to Risi Competizione’s home base in Houston, Texas[...]
