Jetalliance Racing showed their will to win at Oschersleben again in the warm up session this morning as the pole sitting number 33 Aston Martin DBR9 of Karl Wendlinger and Ryan Sharp was fastest again around the Motorsport Arena. Gianmaria Bruni and Toni Vilander were quickest in GT2.
Oschersleben woke up with the sound of revving engines and at 9 o’clock sharp the light went green and 27 cars went out on the track. The GTO Charouz Racing Mosler of Kenneth Heyer and Stepan Vojtech returned to the track after its engine problems yesterday (a new engine was delivered from the UK overnight), while the Belgian Racing Gillet Vertigo was withdrawn yesterday after a suspension failure caused terminal engine damage. The Selleslagh Racing Team Corvette did not set a lap time.
After thirty minutes the Aston Martin DBR9 was quickest setting a fastest lap time of 1:26.557. Second quickest was the Phoenix Carsport Corvette of Fässler and Deletraz at 0.170s and third fastest was the number 1 Vitaphone Racing Maserati MC12 of Bertolini/Bartels. The Maserati was six tenths behind the Aston Martin. Larbre had a great session again with the Saleen in fifth place and the Ferrari 550 in sixth.
AF Corse also continued where they left yesterday with both cars on top of the timing sheets. Vilander and Bruni were quickest in 1:29.733, team mates Biagi and Montanari were almost seven tenths of a second behind. For the first time this weekend we had a Porsche inside the top three as the Collard/Westbrook Prospeed Porsche clocked a 1:30.899.
