If you think of Jan Lammers you will think of sports car racing, his win in the Le Mans 24 Hours and you’ll think of a man that lives for racing. This weekend Lammers is in action again in The Netherlands where he races a Team Flatex-Reiter Lamborghini Gallardo GT3 in the ADAC GT Masters.
Despite his impressive career in which he has raced in almost all series that exist there is at least one race he never took part in, the Spa 24 Hours. Next August that is going to change. Lammers will join fellow Dutchman Peter Kox, who was also walking around in Assen after his crash at the Norisring a few weeks ago, and Russian Roman Rusinov in the IPB Spartak Reiter Engineering Lamborghini Murciélago R-GT. A fourth driver is still to be confirmed, but rumour has it that this will be a driver with a lot of GT1 experience.
For Lammers it would mark his return to the FIA GT championship. The last time the Dutchman participated was in 1998 when he shared a Bitter GT1 and a Roock Racing Porsche 911 GT2 with FIA GT veteran Mike Hezemans, as well as a Konrad Motorsport Porsche 911 GT2 with Franz Konrad.
Excellent news that Lammers is to race the Reiter Lamborghini, it finished Le Mans this year - just. Anybody know if the stands opposite the F1 pits wil be open for the 24 hour race pl ?
