Dyson on top after first practice at Detroit
A wet circuit (which gradually dried afterwards) provided a very mixed practice session at the Belle Isle circuit in Detroit. A few cars did not turn any laps and everyone was very careful as the weekend is only starting…Qualifying will start at 4:35 PM local time.

RIP Phil Hill (20-04-1927 – 28-08-2008)
A true American racing legend passed away today. Phil Hill, a former Formula 1 world champion and three times Le Mans 24 Hours winner, died in a hospital in Salinas, California. Hill had Parkinson’s Disease and was taken to hospital after making a visit to the Rolex Monterey Historic Automobile Races.[...]

Patrón Highcroft Racing heads to Belle Isle for Round 9 of the American Le Mans Series and the Detroit Sportscar Challenge presented by Bosch this weekend, August 29 & 30. Porsche at the Detroit GP: Motor city madness

Flying Lizard Detroit preview
The Flying Lizard squad is back in the U.S. this week for the ninth round of the American Le Mans Series season, the Detroit Sports Car Challenge, to be held August 30 in a joint race weekend with IndyCar. The 2.096-mile, 14-turn temporary street course is located on Belle Isle, a beautiful 982-acre island in the Detroit River. 2008 is the second consecutive year that the American Le Mans Series has competed in Detroit.
