They really know the value of a multi car team. Penske's drivers were able to take their time in traffic because there was always a teammate behind them. Case in point the #6 car which was the third car is the only one not on the lead lap because it had to worry about competitors the whole race. I still feel the Andretti green car would have won it. Especially towards the end. I really feel for them. But it's no coincidence that Penske had an incident free race while the Acuras faultered. All their drivers are long time sports car drivers. Porsche's specialty. Meanwhile Acura/Honda is more focused on open-wheel racing and most of them come from open-wheel formula car and are not used to the different classes. Ryan Briscoe and Helio Castroneves winning shows the discipline that is instilled in the Penske camp. They don’t play around. They really know the value of a multi car team.
