After setting the seventh fastest time in the free practice session it was the fastest lap time for the Selleslagh Racing Team Corvette C6.R in the pre-qualifying session. In the first afternoon session after a one hour break (with absolute motor silence) the Belgian team was the quickest on home soil. The Vantage V8 was surprisingly quick.
The quickest cars of the free practice session could not repeat those results and dropped down the order as other teams moved up. After being quickest in free practice Jetalliance Racing only managed a fifth place this session. During the session the Austrian DBR9 even visited the gravel trap.
After eighty minutes it was the Corvette driven by Christophe Bouchut and Xavier Maassen on top in a time of 1:26.311. Bertolini and Bartels in the Vitaphone Racing Team Maserati MC12 were second fastest, 0.055s behind the Belgian Corvette. Third quickest was the #5 Phoenix Racing Corvette C6.R just over four tenths of a second behind the SRT car.
Beating all the GT2 Ferrari’s and Porsches was the G2-entered Aston Martin Vantage V8. The Aston Martin Racing car driven by Tomas Enge and Stefan Mücke was 0.008s quicker than the quickest GT2 entry, theAF Corse Ferrari F430 GT2 of Vilander and Bruni. The only ‘rival’ of the Aston Martin Vantage in the G2 class, the Vertigo, was 1.4 seconds slower. Looking at the GT2 cars it was again Ferrari that was dominating. Behind the #50 AF Corse it was the #77 BMS Scuderia Italia entry of Malucelli/Rubert and the other AF Corse car of Biagi/Montanari, the top three was within three tenths of a second. This time Collard/Westbrook were the best Porsche pair.
